Here is a little video explaining the sensory processing issues that are oftentimes part of autism. It is often described as a weakness of people with autism, but it can be just as much of a strength. In fact, the sensory aspect of autism is how the Superhero Brain got its name.
I remember watching superman videos as a kid and finding it so cool that superman could hear people screaming for help miles away. Fast forward 25 years and one day my son could hear a car starting its engine so far down the road I couldn't even hear it was happening. That is when I connected the two, and that is how the Superhero Brain book was born.

Today marks the World Autism Awareness Day, a day that used to pass without significance until our son got diagnosed with Autism.
Time to spread the message; Autism is not a disability it is just a different ability. Inherent in every child is beauty, dignity and ability. May we find it and nurture it. May each of our minds be without fear and may our heads always be held high. May we let go of our expectations of who our children should be and embrace them for who they are. Every child in the spectrum is special and God gives special children to special people! At the end of the day Love will triumph everything!
