Themes are great for throwaway decor… Meaning you can pick it up and throw it away. Paint would be ok, but just know that it’s easy for it to go out of style quickly. When doing decor I consider the cost and whether or not I have the money to redo it when I’m tired of it or it’s no longer in style. When all else fails, keep it classic. I got my way with two rooms in our house: my study (writing room, in the basement, which I did sort of mid-century, all in lavenders and mint greens) and the guest room, which I did in a greenish peacock blue with white furniture and accents. On everything else, we have to both agree or it doesn’t happen. It makes furniture shopping hard, but once we find a piece we really love, and we both really love it, the decision is easy.
