You’re wrong about the ACR. It started in the 1st gen Neon ACR. ACR just denoted the competition package. It didn’t mean anything at the time. People started calling it “American club racer” because the 1g ACR was built essentially as a turn-key race car. It was popular and it was successful. A few years ago in Australia Ford released the Ford FPV GT. It was the Ford Performance Vehicles Performance car. Unfortunately, the opposition got into the act in a rather homophobic way and named it “Fucked On Race Day Fucking Poofters Vehicles Gay Transport! Mind you a ( female petrol head) friend of mine owned one and I have to say it was a bloody brilliant car. You may not know me but you know my truck.
