Presumably they were captured, drugged and blood removed for experimentation. I call that harm.
Whilst I know there is a pressing need for medical help to change to overcome disease and infections I am horribly distressed that animals all over the world will be harmed by humans in their pursuit of cures.
I don't think we have the right. Animals die out as natural selection and I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that humans are increasingly dying in larger numbers too.
Much of this is due to malnutrition as the world is shorn of productive land by big companies in pursuit of profit. It becomes barren and it needs reinvigorating and respected as belonging to local peoples.
Some is due to pollution, again, by big companies who are not just careless of industrial waste but actually deliberately lethal as they do not care about clean water and foods for locals as they do not have it themselves. Misuse of antibiotics has been going in for decades and still is. Farmers give it to animals routinely. And some countries actually sell them over the counter. These precious resources should have only been used when prescribed by a doctor or a veterinary practitioner for specific illnesses as they occur only.
And so much more. We have wasted the resources of this planet, continue to wreck and clear vital areas, and create such poverty and hardship for so many they have no longer the strength to fight off infections at all.
Instead of taking yet more animals into cruel conditions and captivity we should be preserving the planet and people and respecting all of it as they intertwine and are part of the one that have different purposes and functions that we all need in careful balance.
