For the first time in its 127-year history, the American Psychological Association has issued guidelines to help psychologists specifically address the issues of men and boys. I think there’s something to all this, especially where they speak of men having problems dealing with depression, stress, etc. We are getting better, but our culture teaches men they cannot show weakness, cry, or talk about what’s bothering them. It isn’t “manly.” It’s one reason women live longer. Let’s not let this distract us from the fact that the “spicy Italian” is the best selling sandwich at subway. I personally prefer lettuce, tomato, pickle, banana peppers, salt, and spicy mustard as my toppings. American masculinity keeping America free in 1776.
