Today was a solid cowboy day. We moved all the open cows (the ones that aren’t pregnant) in. Ran them into the chute and gave then vaccines, fly spray, and new numbers. Then they got moved to an abundance of fresh green grass up on the Mesa. We then sat down for BBQ beef and bean sandwiches and cold beer. Miller lite never tasted that good. I went for an evening ride only to realize three calves were stuck on one side of the creek away from their moms. That meant Phoenix and I had to track down the moms and drive them back in. Phoenix did amazing! I rode with one hand on the reins and one talking on the radio. He moved quickly did exactly what I needed him to do. What an amazing horse! Now it’s nine thirty and time for bed. Up at midnight to check on the pregnant cows, then back at it tomorrow.
